Julienne's story

Julienne S. was born in 1950 in Abomey Calavi in the department of Atlantique in Benin. She has been living for about 20 years in the neighborhood of Dogoudo in Allada, located also in the department of Atlantique. She is a widow and the mother of six children. She provides for the needs of two of them. All her children attend or have attended school. Julienne lives alone with the two children for whom she cares, and is the sole provider for them. Julienne attended school until secondary level.

To support herself and her children, Julienne sells food products in Allada. She gets her supplies from Savè in the department of Collines. She has been in this business for 38 years. So far she was granted two loans from Alidé and repaid them on schedule. Julienne came now to Alidé and applied for a third loan, which she will use to increase her inventory and better meet the ever increasing demand from her customers.
