A loan of $925 helped purchases of panetones to sell.

Celia's story

Celia is a hardworking, 36-year old woman. She lives in a cozy house with her husband Manuel, also age 36, and her 3 children Guillermo, age 14, Ángela, age 10, and Ariana, age 9.

Early each morning, she begins her busy day by preparing breakfast for her children before they go to school. Later, she quickly makes her way to the food court in the city's educational center, where she sells chicken sandwiches, sweets, and sodas, among other food items. With her charisma, she is able to convince even the most reluctant of customers to buy from her stand. Celia works with another member of her community bank, who is ready to leave her with the business, and Celia is waiting eagerly for this to happen.

In addition, she sells different seasonal products. For example, the month of October went very well due to sales of turrones (a nougat candy made with a base of cookies and honey), which are traditionally eaten during this season.

Currently, she anticipates selling panetones (cake with raisins and fruit) during the Christmas season. She has mentioned this to her customers and already has orders, so she is sure her sales will be strong. She plans to save money to open a grocery store in her house, as well.

This is the tenth loan she will receive from MFP and she is sure to be punctual in paying each one of her loan payments. In addition, she is well respected within her community bank because she likes to actively participate in the meetings. With the money she is requesting she will buy panetones at wholesale prices to fill the orders her relatives and friends have already placed. In this way, she will continue to make progress in life.
