A loan helped to buy greenhouses to produce vegetables and supply the local market year round.

Marcos's story

Marcos is a 58-years-old man from Gaza, a province in the south of Mozambique. Marcos lives in Matola city with his wife and their two lovely daughters.

Marcos has a large area of land in Matola and he, together with his family, decided to develop a lot of activities there in order to provide more resources to the family. They have planted some fruit trees as, for example, papaya, mango and orange trees. They also have a poultry production but the main passion of this family is vegetable production.

Since Marcos´s family is near a big market, called Zimpeto, they see a great opportunity for investing in vegetables production and to sell the crops in that market. This will increase the income for the family and ensure a better future for the two girls.

Thus, in order to ensure a better production of vegetables to supply to the Zimpeto Market, Marcos is requesting a loan to buy greenhouses so he can produce vegetables the whole year.

This loan is special because:

It gives smallholder farmers access to productive equipment and new markets.
