A loan of $350 helped increasing her working capital.

Amina's story

Ms. Amina D. has been a member of the Camberene bank of U-IMCEC since January, 2001.  She has already benefited from a loan, which she repaid properly.  She is married and the mother of four children.  For quite awhile, she has been advancing in commerce and has specialized in selling cloth and a variety of goods.  She is an ambitious woman who wants to earn her living to have her own personal income.  Her business is one that she chose out of love.  She's requesting a loan of 150,000 francs to buy some cloth and especially  thioubs (damask fabrics) with the goal of diversifying her goods.

"The loan is allowing me to increase my operating fund and to replenish my merchandise continually because my customers buy on credit."

Ms. D. is a beneficiary of the agreement between U-IMCEC and the Programme de développement de l'infant et de la famille(PDEF) Seydina Issa Laye. The PDEF (a development program for children and families) seeks to reduce poverty within the community and especially to protect children who come from destitute families. Thanks to this cooperation, the parents of these children can take advantage of loans having more flexible terms compared to ordinary loans. Since the agreement’s start in December 2008, there have been 120 parents who received financing in amounts varying from 50,000 to 150,000 francs.
