Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,125 helped buy charcoal at wholesale to break up and resell.

Francisco's story

Francisco A. is 57 years old, single, and has three children: two daughters, 23 and 30, who live with their mother in Japan and a son, 26 years old, who lives with Francisco.

Francisco works buying charcoal at wholesale and breaking it into smaller pieces for sale and distribution to the businesses of Villa Elisa city. For distribution he uses his own 1974 Mercedes Benz model 608 truck.

He wants to invest the loan in the purchase of charcoal by the ton in order to buy at a lower price and earn a better income on his sales.
