A loan of $350 helped purchase potato seedlings & sheep.

Teofila's story

Teofila is 49 years old and lives with her husband Victor, who is 51, and four of their six children: Josué (age 19), Juana (age 17), Eloy (age 14), and Emerson (age 12). The older children are studying in the capital so that they can pursue a better future.

Teofila works hard at farming, growing high quality crops of potatoes and ulluco with the help of her husband. Working together, they keep watch over their land, provide it with proper treatment, and reap the reward of a very productive harvest. Selling their entire harvest allows them to earn income to support their children.

In addition to farming, Teofila also raises sheep and sells the meat at a good price. She is very excited about this business and wants to expand it to the point of becoming a well-known vendor of mutton. As a female entrepreneur, Teofila is not afraid of starting new businesses and always continue to dream. She establishes goals for herself because she knows that she can reach them someday with consistent effort.

This is her seventh loan with MFP. Teofila is careful to be responsible and punctual with her payments because she does not want to create problems with her finances or with the other members of her Communal Bank, who are hardworking people like her. She will use the money to buy more potato seedling to increase her production. In addition, she will acquire more sheep to increase her mutton sales which have been successful so far.
