A loan of $1,075 helped to purchase fertilizer for cultivating watermelon.

Manuel's story

Manuel A. B. B. is 60 years old, married, and has 2 children, who are his top priority. They are 24 and 18 years old, respectively. Manuel lives in Pueblo Nuevo with his wife and younger son. He wants to use this credit for the cultivation of watermelon. This loan will help him be able to take good care of his crop, through the purchase of fertilizers. He plans to plant close to a hectare of watermelon because he has a lot of experience with them. This is the second time that Manuel has been financed through FUDECOSUR. The first time, he borrowed almost 250,000 colones, and that helped him with various things, since his form of work allows him to obtain good results. He hopes that he can improve economically and get ahead.

The Foundation for the Development of Southern Communities is dedicated to economically empowering its clients by providing credit and capacitating programs to improve living conditions of micro-entrepreneurs and their children across Southern Costa Rica.
