Esi's story

Esi is 60 years of age. She is widowed and has six children, some of whom are still in school. She lives with her children in a rented apartment in a tourist attraction community in the central region of Ghana. The community is one of the coastal towns in Ghana. As a result, the major occupation of the people is mainly farming.

Esi is a trader who trades in vegetable cooking oil – palm oil. She supplies to other retailers and food vendors in her community. Esi also deals in firewood. She procures her goods from nearby towns. According to Esi, she has been in business for over 20 years and wants a loan to buy goods in bulk to increase her stock.
