A loan of $850 helped purchase construction materials.

Valente Arrone's story

Valente Arrone M. was born in Bilene District, Gaza Province, in southern Mozambique. He is 50 years old, a married father of five children who are 23,21,18, 13 and 11 years old. The oldest child is no longer studying. Valente graduated from the teaching University with a degree in psychology and education in 2008. He lives with his family in his own house, and supports a grandson who lives with him.

He left Bilene for Maputo in order to continue his studies, and later started working as a teacher in Marracuene District. He performed this work for over 33 years and worked from 7am to 12 noon, following the Ministry of Education schedule. He was transferred to Boane where established his residence, and where he lives today. He earns a monthly salary of 12,900 MZN that he uses for household expenses while still saving some in his bank account.

He has never taken out a loan with another bank, and he learned about Hluvuku when he walked by their office and decided to learn more about the requirements for getting credit. This is his second loan in the amount of 25,000 MZN, with which he intends to buy construction materials (paint, cement, sink and interior doors) to complete his house. The previous loan was for 25,000 to do the same work.

In the future he would like to apply for additional loans in order to build a cottage on land in his home town in Bilene Macia.
