A loan of $1,950 helped a member loan to buy 30 layers together with the feed.

Jim Orange Group's story

Modeline is a 29-year-old lady who resides in Chivizhe village, Marondera. She is in the horticulture business and grows green vegetables and tomatoes. She usually collects about 100 to 150 vegetable bundles per week to supply at a busy market in Harare.

A year ago, Modeline decided to diversify and start a business of rearing layers and selling eggs on a daily basis. Her layer business is still growing and she has 56 birds. Currently, she is able to sell a crate of eggs a day.

Her husband is now unemployed. In realizing that she had become the bread winner for her family while more expenses were using up her income, Modeline decided to team up with four friends and apply for financial training and a group loan. Modeline used her portion of the loan to buy 30 layers together with the feed so as to increase her daily sales and be able to cover her household expenses as they fall due.
