Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $175 helped foodstuffs to distribute to businesses in Cusco.

Valentina's story

Valentina is a client of Asociación Arariwa. She is member of a communal bank consisting of 22 members in Cusco. The group is called Fuente de Vida ("source of life" in Spanish). Valentina is 28 years old and lives in Cusco with her common law husband and her eight year-old daughter.

Valentina supplies restaurants and hotels in the city of Cusco with local fine meats and other food products, which she has been doing for the past eight years. She mainly distributes alpaca meat, local cheeses and eggs. Valentina wants a loan to stock up on inventory in anticipation of the busy holiday season. She hopes in the future to expand her business by distributing additional food products to the hotels and restaurants of Cusco.

Valentina appreciates and thanks you for the loan and promises to pay the monthly payments on time.
