These are small-scale businesswomen in the town of Magburaka in northern Sierra Leone. They are requesting a loan of SLL 500,000 each from Kiva lenders through SMT. Fatmata K. on the left is the leader of this group. Fatmata was born in Magburaka forty-six years ago. She is married to a miner and they have three children. Two of their children are in junior secondary school and one is in primary school.



Fatmata sells bowls, baskets and slippers/flip-flops. Fatmata has over ten years of experience in this business. With her share of this loan, she will buy bowls, slippers, and baskets.
