A loan of $2,950 helped a member to invest in merchandise for her small neighborhood store.

Sarita Colonia Ded Progreso Group's story

Martha is 54 years old and has 7 older children. She has been part of the “Sarita Colonia del Progreso” group for the past three and a half years, and currently is serving as the group’s president. Martha and the other nine group members have obtained loans to build their businesses.
Martha sells sweets in a space in her house. She started this business seven years ago with very little, and little by little with great effort, work, and savings she has increased her merchandise. Through her work, she has been able to contribute financially to house improvements, and also helps her two younger children with their university education expenses.
In the future she would like to start a plastic sealing company.
The loan that she has requested will be used to invest in her small neighborhood store.
