A loan of $725 helped to buy more raw materials such as maize, meat, fish, vegetables and firewood.

Doris's story

Doris is 42 years old. She is married and the mother of four children, all of whom are in school. Through her business, she has supported her elderly child to finish senior high school and he is still to continue his schooling. She lives with her husband who is also a merchant. Doris is a food vendor; she sells kenkey and fish in the community lorry station. Kenkey is prepared from milled maize grains, cooked and taken with hot pepper and fried fish. Doris has many customers since many Ghanaians enjoy kenkey for breakfast, lunch and supper.

Doris has been in business for the last two years so one can see that she persists to provide for her family. She said she enjoys doing this business because it brings her income and she feels she is working to support her family. She wants to use the loan to buy more raw materials such as bags of maize, meat, fish, vegetables and firewood. Doris takes delivery of stock, especially maize, from the nearby villagers. She would be grateful for your assistance.
