A loan helped to buy a water tank, chemicals, vegetable seeds, soil and a rake.

Maria's story

Maria is a 24-year-old single woman who has a child.

She runs a business of selling vegetables (cabbages and cucumbers) in her community to earn a living. She has 3 years of experience with this business. Maria is a Samoan citizen, she works very hard to satisfy her customers with her fresh vegetables. She became a member of SPBD in 2017.

Every day, except for Saturday and Sunday, she delivers her vegetables to villages using her wheelbarrow. She is also believes that using the wheelbarrow to deliver her business products is also making her strong, happy and healthy.

Maria needs a loan to purchase more equipment (a water tank, chemicals, vegetable seeds, soil and a rake) to help take her business to the next level.

Her dream is that one day, she will earn more to buy her own vehicle to help her run the business and help her family.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
