A loan helped to buy supplies and ingredients for her bakery business.

Gerardine Josefina's story

Gerardine is 47 years old. She lives in the town of Quito. She is a woman of Venezuelan nationality who had to emigrate from the violence and the financial situation in her country to look for a better future for her and her family. She is very hard-working as, since she was very small, she has had to work to be able to help her parents to sustain the household. She is living in Ecuador. At the moment she makes biscuits and desserts. Her products have been very well-received in the area due to the quality and price.

Gerardine really wants to make this business grow so she is able to move forward. Therefore she is asking for a loan to buy supplies and ingredients to be able to cover all her orders, as she is very good with people and the quality of her work is very well-received by them. Gerardine feels very grateful to Kiva for the help given to people in vulnerable situations.

Translated from Spanish by Kiva volunteer Donna Davison.
