A loan of $1,700 helped a member to purchase fertilizer, such as manure.

Cecilia's Group's story

Cecilia L. is from the village of San Juan, Alicia, Isabela. She is 47 years old. Cecilia is the leader of a 5-member group loan sponsored by ASKI. Although each member of the group receives an individual loan, they are all collectively responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members if someone is delinquent or defaults.

Cecilia is married and has 5 school-aged children. To make a living, Cecilia grows and sells rices. Cecilia earns approximately PHP 30,000 for every crop (every four months).

In 2008, Cecilia joined ASKI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Cecilia is requesting a new loan of PHP 12000 to purchase fertilizer, such as manure. This will be Cecilia's third loan from ASKI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to pay her children's tuition.

About ASKI:
