Sara Maria's story

Sara María A. Sanches is 42 and lives in the Esperanza District, Trujillo Province, Department of La Libertad, Peru. She is a member of the "Nueva Esperanza" Village Bank. She has a secondary school education, and has a common law husband and five children, four of whom are dependent on her. María earns her living selling rice, soft drinks, milk, candies, noodles, vegetables for stew, etc., from a store she runs in her house. She used her first loan, for 300 soles, to buy products to stock her store, including rice, sugar, milk, candies, oil, noodles, vegetables, etc. She is currently seeking a loan for 1500 soles so she can buy a moto-taxi to rent out and earn more income for her family. Her dream is to have a fleet of moto-taxis.
