A loan of $700 helped to buy more smoked fish and dried fish.

Ama's story

Ama is 60 years old. She is married and the mother of nine children. Currently all her children are independent. She is sells smoked fish and started her fish sales forty years ago at a community market where she lives. It is through this business that she was able to cater for her children until they became independent.

Ama buys fish from Yeji in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana. She says it is very affordable from that place, though that is quite a distance. With her little capital she cannot buy in bulk and sees that as a cost to her operation, considering the distance where she purchases her stock. She serves her customers with very tasty and good quality smoked fish, and because of that many customers buy from her stand.

Ama buys fish from the fishmongers sometimes when demand is high. She has a large customer base who travel from other parts of surrounding communities to buy her fish. She requests the loan to upgrade her stock of fish. She would be grateful for your support.
