A loan of $3,375 helped a member working capital.

Aleman Group's story

The Alemán Community Bank is represented by Sra. Dilcia. There are fourteen members in the group, and this is their second loan cycle. They have shown responsibility in the repayments and a desire to see their small businesses make progress. The majority of the members make and sell bread; the others sell groceries in neighbourhood stores, cosmetics via catalogue, clothing, assist in a bakery, or work in various businesses.

Competition in these types of businesses is high, but the members already have orders for bread. They try to maintain the quality and the price so that the orders from their different customers keep coming in.

The other members also face competition, but they know what they have to do to get ahead since their families depend on them. Many are the sole providers for their families. The majority of the members will use the loan to buy ingredients and tools to enable them to produce a high-quality product more efficiently. The others will buy merchandise to stock their stores.
