Katia's story

Katia M., 42, is a dynamic and hard-working woman who lives in the city of Pucallpa, Ucayali region. She has four children, two of which are minors. She is a vegetable merchant. Her husband, who works in public transportation, supports her work. She has been a member of the "Madres Corajes" communal bank for the last 3 years and she tells us that she used her first, 300 new sol, loan to invest in her business. Currently, Katia needs 1000 new soles to buy vegetables at wholesale to be resold later at Pucallpa's Bellavista market. Katia's goal is to see her children educated and to continue to support her husband so that all of them can get ahead in life.
