Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Mercy's story

Mercy W. has been selling vegetables and fruit to residents at Kiganjo for the past three years. Her business challenges are the lack of proper storage to store perishable goods and lack of funds to restock vegetables for selling.

She will use the loan proceeds of KES20,000 to buy beans, maize and to add to her stock of vegetables and fruit. Her goal in life is to become a wholesaler. Mercy is single and has two daughters. She describes herself as hard working, caring and respectable.
