A loan of $6,000 helped in renovating new areas within our building that rents artist studio spaces and provides membership access to the local community.

Kevin's story

During my whole creative career I've always been drawn to creative collaboration and gravitated towards living situations, buildings and projects that brought artists together.

Having space to gather, is a cornerstone of community, student and individual development. We aim to bring creativity and vocational shop skills together to engage a new form and way of tool, skill sharing and collaboration.

In our first phase of development, concentrating on our second floor, 8,000 sqft, we have already replaced and upgraded our electrical grid, replaced and renovated new bathrooms and a community kitchen area. Developed 8 private studio spaces for our first wave of in house artists, makers and entrepreneurs. These spaces include a new robotics start up company, artist studio spaces that involve leather working, ceramics, stain glass, sculpture, audio/video production, and painting. We are now looking to expand our artist studio spaces and begin renovations on our 3rd floor.

This building has hosted a variety of enterprises in its almost 150 years of existence from a blacksmith shop, to a horse and buggy manufacturer, department store, sewing factory, and now a creative arts collaboration space that includes multiple art studios, computer lab, wood and metal shop, audio and video production space and has plans to grow into a STEAM based technology hub with 3D printers, VR, Laser etching and more.

My exploration into creativity and developing as an artist culminated in a large concept project I created that was a one year walk across the country. We called ourselves The United Souls of Awareness and walked coast to coast, absorbing culture, art and music. Passing through many locations and communities that were hungry to be inspired, share creativity and ideas. I'm no stranger to thinking big and accomplishing my goals one step at a time.
