A loan of $500 helped to buy ingredients for his meal preparations.

Gustavo Antonio's story

Gustavo Antonio and his wife have sold prepared meals for the past 10 years. Together they offer their customers good service. They have two children: a married daughter and a son, who is still a student and helps them in their eatery during his free time. He started his business with his severance pay from his previous employment at a casino. His experience allowed him to open a small eatery. Lack of funds has prevented him from expanding his business; what he would like most is to have a restaurant where he can offer all variety of dishes and attract a lot of diners. Thanks to financing from Afodenic he has been able to increase the variety of dishes offered and his sales increase daily. But, he doesn't have enough funds to enlarge his establishment as he has his menu offerings. Thus, the need for financing. He will buy rice, beans, oil, sugar, lard, canned goods, sauces, meats, chicken, dairy products, fruits and vegetables to continue to prepare his delicious meals and obtain profits to cover his household's basic expenses as well as his family's basic needs. By the grace of God and the financial institution's assistance his business has grown and many Nicaraguan families have benefitted by these long-term loans.
