A loan of $700 helped to buy beans, nuts, and grain to sell.

Mary's story

Mary is 32 years old. She is divorced and the mother of one child, a son, who is currently in school. She lives with her son in a rented apartment in the fishing-dominated community of Axim in the Western Region of Ghana. Mary works hard to be able to provide for her son. She sells beans, nuts, and grains, such as maize and groundnuts. Mary sells to retailers and food vendors in her community. She also treks to nearby communities to sell. She has been in business for two years and says the loan will help her to expand her business by enabling her to buy goods in bulk.
