A loan helped a member to raise more chickens.

Munwahuku Group's story

Nokuthula is a 31-year-old woman in the Munwahuku group. She raises poultry in Mumhurwi. Her fowl run has the capacity to carry 200 birds. She usually keeps a batch of 100 birds. She gets her birds from local suppliers.

Nokuthula is a married homeowner and takes care of three beautiful children. She heard about Thrive Microfinance and she was happy to join a group and take a loan. She and the other Munwahuku group members attended a training program to learn about the importance of working as a group and savings. Nokuthula works hard for her family and ensures that her children go to school. The group is currently on their first loan cycle. The other group members are also into poultry and also run tuckshops. Nokuthula used her loan to buy more birds for resale. She has more customers willing to buy her birds in the area she lives in. She wants to make sure she does not disappoint them and always has birds to sell.
