A loan helped a member to gain access to cost efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for maize cultivation.

Matlida's Group's story

Pictured above is Matlida, who, as a group leader, is representing her group formed by seven farmers in Iringa, Tanzania. She is a mother to six children and is known by her community as a very reliable person.

Initially, Matlida joined One Acre Fund in 2013 because she wanted to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods. Since she joined the program, she says that her life has improved, especially because she has been able to consistently feed her family. With the profits from the coming harvesting season, Matlida plans to repair her home.

Between the seven farmers in Matlida's group, a total of 6.5 acres of land will be planted using the maize seeds and fertilizer received with the loan.
