Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $300 helped invest for the Christmas season.

José Americo's story

Mr. Jose Americo C. A. is 55 years old and lives with his son at 557 A Pimentel Street in Ica. He works at the Amazonas Shopping Center (this is an association of workers who were previously street vendors) which is located on Lambayeque Street. He is in the business of selling barley water, purple corn drink, fresh juices, and more. He has been in this business for more than 20 years, initially with his wife. She is currently no longer living with him, but he continues in this work up to the present date. This is his primary source of income and has allowed him to attain the success of his children.

He requests our assistance so that this Christmas season he can invest in the purchase of Christmas ornaments and lights in order to obtain an income that will better allow him to cover his personal expenses.

He has good references from his neighbors and from his associates at the shopping center where he works.
