A loan of $700 helped to pay for plowing fees and to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her farm.

Pech's story

Mrs. Pech P., 51, and her husband, Mr. Heng Lach, 50, are farmers. They grow many kinds of vegetables such as cauliflowers, bitter gourd and eggplant on their farmland in the village. This couple hopes to increase the volume of their products, so Pech is asking for her first loan of $700 to pay for plowing fees and to buy fertilizer and pesticide to use on her farm.

Pech and her husband (both are in the photo), live along National Road No. 1, about 17 kilometers from Phnom Penh. They were married in 1979 and have eight children: four sons and four daughters. Unfortunately, one of their sons has died. Four children are married and live outside the family home and one son assists his parents with their farming business.
