A loan helped a member to buy more personal care products at the wholesale level.

Mujeres Activas Xenacoj Group's story

Flor and 6 Maya Kaqchikel ladies are members of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Mujeres Activas Xenacoj” located in the department/state of Sacatepequez.

Since she has 10 years of formal education, the Trust Bank chose her to be the Secretary. She is married with 3 children (aged 1-12). One of her goals is to see her children finish high school. Her home is made of concrete blocks and metal sheeting.

Flor has 2 businesses. She sells prepared foods, as well as personal care products by catalogue. She is requesting a Kiva loan in order to increase her inventory. She wants to buy more personal care products at the wholesale level. She will be able to set aside funds for her children’s education and also support her household.

Flor and the women participate in the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and healthcare services. At their monthly meetings, they learn about themselves (self esteem, empowerment), how to care for their families effectively (nutrition, health, hygiene) and how to manage their businesses successfully (planning, budgeting, investing, savings). In the last few meetings, they have learned about nutrition, skin care and healthcare during pregnancy.

Kivainvestors partnering with Friendship Bridge play a vital role in the lives of these women. Thank you to each of you for your kindness!
