A loan of $425 helped to purchase sacks of fish.

Magali Teresa's story

Mrs. Magali is a member of the communal bank “Las Solidarias II.” This bank is located in the Tarapoto district, in the province of San Martin, in the Department of San Martin. She lives with her partner, is 31 years old, and is the mother of three dependent, school-age children.

She began selling fresh fish ten years ago to help her family with the bills. She started out with 200 soles of working capital that turned out to be a good investment because today she is still in the same business, but with greater quantities and varieties of fish.

With the loan of 1,200.00 soles, she will buy kilos of dried fish, fish that are produced in the region as well as those from the coast like: bocachico, palometas, toa, gamitada, tilapias, toyo, pejerey to keep her business stocked and satisfy the demands of her customers.

Mrs. Magali expresses her satisfaction at being part of a women’s group for so many years, a group that has helped her get through a difficult period in her life. She now has the strength to confront difficulties with more strength.
