Froilan P. is from the village of Sinonoc, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental. He is 42 years old, married, and has three school-aged children. To make a living, Froilan owns and operates a service-based business. The main source of income for the business comes from providing motorcycle services to local community members. Froilan has been engaged in his business for over a year and earns approximately 10,000 PHP a month from these activities.

In 2009, Froilan joined Kiva partner GDMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve his living situation and ability to engage in business activities. He has successfully repaid a previous loan of 25,000 PHP from GDMPC. Froilan is requesting a new loan of 50,000 PHP, which will be used to repair a transport vehicle used in the business. This loan will be his third from GDMPC. He plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to supplement his family's income.


GDMPC is one of the most progressive cooperatives in Mindanao, Philippines. It has four branches and three unit offices covering the provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Occidental. Its membership is composed mostly of farmers, fisherfolk and small entrepreneurs.
