A loan of $175 helped to buy a cow.

Lourdes's story

Lourdes, 28, lives with her two children in relatives' house. For the past 6 years she has raised cattle. She has a stable where she raises her cows fattening them up for later sale at better prices at the local livestock market. Her work methodology is very good because she is able to recoup what she invests in the feed and can have money available when she needs it. Sometimes the rainy weather makes it impossible to transport her animals to market. However, this isn't an insurmountable obstacle because Lourdes always figures out a way to sell her animals. For the future, she would like to have sufficient capital available to buy animals in groups of three or more, not just one at a time. This is her first loan with MFP and she is very happy to be a member of this new communal bank so she commits to work honestly. The funds requested will be used to buy a young heifer which she will fatten for three months to sell later at a higher price.
