A loan of $900 helped purchase cosmetics to sell for Christmas & food for her animals.

Bilma Raquel's story

Bilma M. is 27 years old and one of the young members of the Santa Ana Communal Bank in the city of Cuenca. She lives in the Los Laureles neighborhood in Santa Ana Parrish with her husband and two children, ages 10 and 8. They are students at La Consolación School in El Valle Parrish. Her husband works as a bus driver with his own vehicle. They do not own a home, but they currently live in a house provided by her sister.

Bilma works as a beauty consultant and has been selling the Yanbal line of products for one year, and Avon products for two years. She also raises pigs and chickens to sell to neighbors in the community, especially during the holidays. Bilma says that all of her businesses have been doing well because she knows how to manage them.

She has been working with the Foundation for five years and has greatly benefited from the loans, which she used to buy animals and beauty products to grow her business. With this new loan from Fundación ESPOIR, Bilma will purchase perfumes, crèmes, and additional cosmetics for the Christmas season. In addition, she will buy products to promote the growth of her animals such as corn, bran, nutritional feed, and vitamins. Her greatest dream is to have a house of her own.
