Salome's story

Salome was born in Gaza she is 44 years old and is single, she has 2 daughters who are 23 and 25 years old, neither of them are studying, because they work together. Besides her daughters Salome supports her grandchildren who live with her.

Salome studied until the 4th grade because at her school that was the last grade available, then her teacher took her saying they were going to get a space available at another school and he abused of her (raped her) and she got pregnant. Salome was desperate with the situation and her mother sends her away. She left Gaza to live in Namaacha at the frontier with Swazilandia with a friend to try to get a job. When she arrived to Namaacha she started working at the Government District as a maid, but due to the illness of the century (AIDS) she had to leave the job because she was discriminated at her work place. With time Salomen started working with plants several species like (azaleas, antores and catos), because they are easy to multiply and she has a very good hand for gardening, she has a beautiful garden. Today she is one of the most famous gardeners in the region, she sells flowers even for people in the capital and is able to get an income of 2.000MT.

This is the second loan for Salome from Hluvuku and Kiva. The first one of 15.000MT was used to buy plants and pesticides to improve her flower collection, this second loan for 10.000MT is to increase the plants and produce more. She is confident she will improve a lot her business and this way she will pay without any problem because she counts with her daughters help.
