A loan of $1,050 helped to buy a cow and repair parts for a tractor.

Luisa's story

Luisa is a member of the “Las Brisas del Río Blanco” [Breezes of the Blanco River] communal bank, in the Pilcuyo district in the province of El Collao. She is 55 years old, married, and has 6 children, 2 of whom still live with her. Her mother-in-law also lives with her. She finished part of primary school.

Luisa has been working with Movimiento Manuela Ramos for 3 years. She buys and sells food products of the region and also small animals.

She tells us that her first loan was for PEN 300.00. She didn’t invest it well and spent it, but now she has learned to invest.

She is requesting a loan of PEN 3,000.00, which she will use to invest in a cow and repair parts for a tractor.

Her vision for the future is to have more capital so that her business can grow. What she most likes about her communal bank are the loan interest loans and the training lectures.
