A loan helped a member to purchase more weaves and wigs.

Divas Orange Group's story

Eustina has close to 15 years experience in hairdressing as well as selling weaves and wigs. Her business is located in Harare town centre where she pays rent of $80 per month. She is experiencing growing sales in her business and one of her challenges is running out of stock.

She does plaiting of clients from 8am to 5pm by herself while on the other hand she sells weaves and wigs. The unfortunate part of Eustina’s business is the disappointment of her clients by failing to meet their demands due to stock issues.

Considering her own restocking, Eustina usually sends her friend to restock for her from South Africa using $300 each trip. On a monthly basis she usually gets profits of $400 from both plaiting of hair as well as selling weaves and wigs. Eustina’s profit margins are still unsatisfactory to her. This pushed her to team up with her two friends Ellen and Tendai, and they applied for a group loan from Thrive Microfinance.

Eustina used her share of the loan to purchase weaves and wigs for her business in order to meet demand. She is a single mother of three children, with one of whom is school going. She stays at her parents’ house in a village in Seke.
