A loan helped me fund my new kitchen equipment and ingredients in bulk to expand my production.

Fidel's story

I was born and raised in Cosamaloapan, Mexico, I have 11 sibilings and most of them are still in my town. I move to the United States 23 years ago, and started my business because I always liked to cook and there was a lack of supply of traditional Mexican food here in Oakland, CA. Today I am preparing around 120 tamales, 150 quesadillas, 150 filled buns per week; I use my income for my personal support and I also help my mom and sisters back in Mexico. In the future I would like to expand my business and maybe open a restaurant or a party catering service. This would be my second kiva loan, with my first loan I was able to buy some equipment and ingredients and I completed my payment succesfully a week ago, I still want to keep my business growing to increase my production.

This loan is special because:

This helps a repeat borrower continue to expand his business and serve authentic Mexican food to his community.
