Maria Helena's story

Maria Helena C. was born in the province of Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. She is 51, married, and the mother of 2 children who are 32 and 18. Both of them work and don't go to school. She only studied through the 3rd grade and didn't continue because of her parents' lack of financial resources. She lives in her own home with her family and doesn't support anyone besides them. She never left Maputo. She has a business where she has sold food products for more than 15 years. She has a sales volume of 15,000 meticais a month and earns a monthly income of 3,500 meticais a month, which she uses to support her family, pay for credit, and saves some in her bank account. She has never had a loan with another establishment. She became familiar with Hluvuku through her friends, and this is her 5th loan, which is for 12,000 meticais. She will use it to buy construction materials (cement, stone, sand, and labor) to expand her home. Her previous loans were for 6,000, 6,000, 7,200, and 11,200 meticais, which she used to purchase furniture, appliances, and other domestic goods. In the future, she hopes to request more loans so she can continue expanding her home and to buy more furniture for it.
