Ela's story

Ela N. is a 54-year-old woman living in the town of Asaga. She is married and has 8 adult children. To make a living, Ela owns & operates a bakery. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes from baking & selling a variety of confectioneries such cookies and cakes in the local community. Ela has been engaged in this business for over 3 years and earns approximately 400 WST a month from these activities.

In 2009, Ela joined SPBD to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Ela is now requesting a loan of 1000 WST which will be used to invest in expanding the business. This will be the 1st loan taken out by the borrower from SPBD. Ela plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve/expand her business.
