A loan of $5,000 helped me open my dream business, Katletki Slavic Meatballs; the funds will help with business registration, food operation permits, equipment, and marketing expenses to start operating at local farmers markets.

Anya's story

I am a refugee from Belarus. I came to United States for a better life and for the enormous opportunity and great people this country has. I love to cook and have always been attracted to the food business. When I was 17, I wrote my first business plan for a restaurant in the small town I'm from. After earning a Bachelors degree in marketing and business administration and working in restaurants and other food service companies, I decided to approach my dream of owning a food business. Recently, with the tremendous help of La Cocina Business Incubator, I was able to put my thoughts and ideas into creating a business I'm proud of. My goal is to create a successful packaged food business that can employ people like me: hardworking immigrants adding value to American society.

This loan is special because:

It helps a food entrepreneur expand her business and employ other immigrants like herself.
