A loan of $2,800 helped a member to buy fertilizers and pesticides.

Mrs. Savon Khun Village Bank Group's story

The village bank loan consists of fifteen people, all of whom live in Preak Ta Ong village in Kandal province. Mrs. Savon K. has been selected by the village bank members as their president. She is a farmer who owns a piece of land used for cultivating rice. She needs fertilizers and pesticides to support her business because her soil is infertile, so she has decided to ask for a loan to purchase these supplies. Her husband, Mr. Ma Vibol, is a construction worker who supports the family with his small income. The couple have two children; the elder is attending the local school, while the younger is too young to work or study.
