A loan helped a member to buy peanuts and lemon juice.

Joséphine's Group's story

These 21 women live in the same neighborhood and belong to the same banc villageois launched in May 2009. Ms. Binta, the one raising her hand in the photo, is the group representative. She is 59 years old, married and the mother of seven children, including one son.

Binta has been working as a vendor selling lemon juice and peanut paste for over 20 years. With this loan she plans to buy twenty 20-liter [5-gallon] jugs of lemon juice and ten 100-kg [220 lbs] of peanuts she will process to make peanut paste. Binta will use the revenues from her sales to grow her savings, reinvest in her business and provide for her children as well as for her personal needs.
