A loan of $1,050 helped to buy fertilizers.

Rosa's story

Rosa, 50, is married to the father of her 8 children, three of whom still live at home with them. From her youth she has farmed her farmlands and, with her husband's guidance, has wielded a machete to trim and prune the coffee plants, which is their preferred crop because of it's profitability. It has been thanks to coffee that their children never lacked anything. But, lately, she has suffered from feet ailments that keep her from being able to work with the same ease as in years past. Because of this, about a month ago, she set up a small grocery store in her home where she is learning to add and subtract using a calculator so as not to make mistakes. But, despite watching over her store, Rosa does not neglect preparing her husband's lunch and taking it to him in the fields because she feels more useful and calm when she is able to help him this way. Previously, the loan recipient was her husband, but for this loan, they maD. the change and it is now Rosa who is committing to repay it in a timely fashion. The funds requested will be used to buy chemical fertilizers and merchandise for her store.
