A loan of $4,025 helped a member to purchase rice, beans, chicken and yucca to cook and sell.

Genesis 1, 2 & 3 Group's story

Lucrecia is the coordinator of her group, Genesis, and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican (many of whom recently emigrated to the Dominican Republic from Haiti) clients generally. Her group is located in Santiago, the Dominican Republic's second largest city, which is known for its production of cattle, tobacco and coffee, and where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her long-time partner and their three children.

Lucrecia is excited to be taking her third loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loans. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business of vending traditional food made with yucca, beans, rice and chicken. She will use the profits to continue to grow her business and invest in her family. She thanks you all for your support.

In this group: Lucrecia, Rosalba, Maria, Jose, Rosario, Cirilo, Idala `, Daniela, Cruzita, Liset, Romula, Lucia, Modesto, Celeste, Brigida
