A loan of $3,650 helped a member to buy electrical equipment to sell with the goal of boosting his capital.

Soleil Plus Group's story

Sylvain K. K., aged 43, is the president of a group named "Soleil Plus", composed of 28 micro-entrepreneurs committed in solidarity to obtaining loans granted by the lenders of the world via Kiva and the micro-finance institution HOPE RDC. The goal of the members is to bolster their businesses.

Sylvain manages a small workshop making solar panels, and he sells electrical equipment, in the most populous area northeast of the city of Kinshasa. Given the growing demand, he is counting a lot on the next loan to enable him to meet customer needs and also to grow his revenues. The goal is to expand his shop by opening another place for repairing electrical equipment.

He is married and the father of three children, ranging from 2 to 10 years of age. Just two of them are in school.
