Ema's story

Ema is a hardworking and dynamic woman who lives in the city of Pucallpa in the Ucayali region. She is 40 years old, and is the mother of four children. Ema makes clothes and has a small dressmaking workshop in her house. In addition, she sells fruit in the Bellavista market. Her husband is self employed. She has been a member of the communal bank "Las Caribeñas" for one year - the first loan she received was for 300 soles, which she used to buy fruit. Currently, Ema needs a loan of $350 which will be used to buy cotton cloth to make underwear. She will also buy regional fruits to sell in the Bellavista market. Ema's goal is to have a well set-up store.
