A loan of $1,075 helped to expand transport business by buying another bike.

Mutie's story

Mutie M., age 38, has two successful businesses. His primary business is his restaurant, called "Peter's Cave", which is in the residential area of Chaanoi in Mombassa. He has also begun a transportation business offering motorbike services (called boda boda in Kenya). His current bike is in the photo. He has an employee run his restaurant while he is out offering motorcycle transport. This loan of 80,000 Kenyan shillings is to purchase another bike and expand that part of his business.

Mutie is married and has four children: two boys and two girls ranging in age from 2 to 13 years old. His dreams for his family are to bring them up properly and provide a good education – to him, it is the basis for everything. In terms of his business, he would like to continue to expand both the boda boda and the restaurant. He also sees opportunities buying houses as rental properties in his growing area in Mombassa.

Mutie says he provides good services to his clients. He is the secretary of his borrowing group, "Jitegemee".
