A loan of $875 helped to buy natural fertilizer.

Edith's story

Edith, 34, lives with her husband and two sons, 14 and 10 years old, in her own house. All of her life she's been a farmer, principally growing potatoes, which she takes to the urban areas of her location to sell. With her savings she was able to acquire two vehicles that are used for passenger transport. For the last year her husband has driven one of them and they hired a driver for the second vehicle; both cover an interprovincial route. This earns for them income in addition to what they get from farming which is enough to meet household needs. In transport, one works every day and there is no specific day off, unless one of the vehicles might need some type of maintenance. This work has allowed them to meet household expenses and even have some savings. For this reason, she wants to acquire yet another vehicle. This is her ninth loan with MFP and she is very happy to be part of a communal bank because it is a good experience on top of the savings system they have. This time the requested funds will be used to buy sacks of natural fertilizer and potato seed for her next planting cycle.
