Michael's story

I grew up in rural Pennsylvania, right between forested backyards and cornfields-turned-sports fields. Family values, Eagle Scouting, and faith built a solid foundation to care for our planet and its people. Moving into a deeply diverse west-side neighborhood of Baltimore taught me so much about the systemic challenges facing families in our self-made environment (cities). I miss Baltimore, the community, and its charm. But the experience also compelled me to do more. I want to make homes where families are not gentrified away from communities, air is clean like my first forest walks, and households are not in service to excessive debt.

With its great teachers, and a decade of corporate experience in next generation building services, today I'm applying a way to democratize housing between the "haves" and "have-nots" in New Haven, CT. Through aligned incentives, landlords and renters can cooperate and collaborate to co-create. Investments into housing will reap benefits for landlords, and tenants have more reasons and means to focus on self-improvement and getting connected to community.
